Located in the picturesque Little Haywood Village within the Little Haywood Conservation Area, the residence boasts stunning views of Cannock Chase and the Shugborough Estate. The project aimed to remodel the house to create a larger, lighter living space while maintaining its unique charm and enhancing its connection to the expansive garden. The primary challenge was working closely with the Conservation Officer to develop a design that balanced necessary alterations with conservation guidelines. The clients, wanted to transform the dark interior into a bright, inviting space. They desired an open-plan family area that opened up to the rear garden, providing better-proportioned bedroom spaces and ensuring the home could accommodate future needs with a ground-floor bedroom for accessibility.
The design solutions focused on maximizing natural light, creating a welcoming environment throughout the interior. An open-plan living area now seamlessly connects to the garden, fostering a strong indoor-outdoor connection. The bedrooms were reconfigured to provide spacious, comfortable retreats, and the inclusion of a flexible ground-floor bedroom ensures the home can adapt to future needs. A key aspect of the project was the detailed replication of dormer windows over the garage to match the main house. This required careful disassembly and study of the original architecture to ensure seamless integration. By preserving and replicating key architectural features, the remodel respects the historical context while providing modern comforts. The transformation of the residence has resulted in a bright, spacious, and modern family home that harmonizes with its historical surroundings. The clients are thrilled with their remodelled home, particularly appreciating its enhanced light and connection to the garden. The project not only meets the clients' needs but also enriches the Little Haywood Conservation Area, blending contemporary living with timeless design. The remodel has enhanced the local village's aesthetic, contributing positively to the community's charm with its lovely garden frontage.
