Good Hope Maternity Led Unit

Good Hope Hospital, Sutton Coldfield, Birmingham
The project focused on Ward 4 of the Fothergill Block, transforming its lower half into a Midwifery Led Maternity Unit primarily funded by University Hospitals Birmingham Charity. The objective was to create a distinct unit with high-quality finishes and LED lighting that set sit apart from adjacent areas. Spanning 428m2, the refurbishment included a new feature entrance to clearly distinguish the unit. Key features encompass 4No.delivery rooms with en-suite facilities, including 2No. rooms equipped with Croyde Oceanis Birthing Pools. Additional amenities comprise a sitting/dining area adjacent to an upgraded kitchen, 2No. overnight stay rooms adaptable for aromatherapy use, a resuscitation room, dirty utility, linen and general stores, and a newly designed reception area with adjacent office space. As part of the enhancement, existing single-glazed external windows were upgraded throughout the ward area, improving energy efficiency and comfort. The completed project delivers an exceptional Midwifery Led Maternity facility, meeting the highest standards to fulfil both the charitable objectives and the operational needs of the Trust.
