George Eliot Diagnostic Centre

George Eliot, Diagnostic Centre, Nuneaton
George Eliot Hospital initiated the construction of a new Community Diagnostic Centre designed to streamline government referrals for patient diagnostics. The project adhered strictly to NHS standards, with the site boundaries and overall footprint dictated by client specifications. The Centre prioritizes accessibility with features such as an accessible entrance, ramped corridors for seamless navigation across site levels, and facilities including DDA-compliant toilets and extra-wide doorways for wheelchair accessibility.
Due to funding limitations, the project was split into two phases. Phase 1, focused on essential accommodations within a constrained footprint. Phase 2 then expanded the Centre’s capabilities significantly with the installation of MRI and CT scanners, enhancing diagnostic services for a broader patient base. The project received positive feedback from Trust Estates and Clinical Stakeholders, emphasizing the effectiveness of design solutions such as the feature entrance and internal layout optimized for efficient patient flow. In terms of community impact, the Centre plays a crucial role in easing pressure on main hospital facilities by expediting GP referrals. The addition of a distinctive feature wall at the entrance not only enhances aesthetic appeal but also serves as a memorable landmark for visitors.
