Emanuel School Courtyard

Emanuel School Courtyard, Battersea, London
HHA undertook a project to connect two parts of the existing school within an existing courtyard by designing and installing a new steel walkway with a fully glazed façade. This walkway serves as the central feature of the courtyard redevelopment, which also involved creating a newly paved recreational area and a glazed cloister. The design of the glazed walkway was pivotal in seamlessly integrating the two sections of the school while enhancing the aesthetic appeal of the courtyard. Its transparent façade allows natural light to flood into the connecting space, creating a bright and inviting environment for students and staff.
Adjacent to the walkway, a newly paved recreational area was developed to provide students with a versatile outdoor space for activities and gatherings. This area was designed to complement the modern look of the glazed link while ensuring durability and functionality for daily use. Additionally, a glazed cloister was incorporated into the courtyard redevelopment, adding architectural interest and providing sheltered walkways for students moving between buildings. The glazed elements of the cloister maintain a sense of openness and connectivity within the schoolgrounds. Overall, the project aimed to enhance connectivity and functionality within the school environment while revitalizing the courtyard into a vibrant and engaging space. The combination of the steel walkway, fully glazed façade, newly paved recreational area, and glazed cloister reflects our commitment to creating modern, aesthetically pleasing, and functional educational facilities.
