Chinglea, Ranton, Stafford
Chinglea demonstrates HHA’s capability to sympathetically blend modern design with existing structures, creating a functional and unified residential space tailored to the unique needs of its clients. The project included several key developments to meet the client’s requirements: a garden room extension, a new build swimming pool, and the conversion of an adjacent barn into a changing facility. A primary client request was to co-ordinate the design of the garden room and swimming pool, connecting two distinct structures with similar architectural styles, while accommodating lounge and swimming areas. A distinctive design element was the glazing and bold timber frame developed by HHA, complemented by feature trusses that tie the buildings together. The use of sage green colour scheme on both structures enhanced their uniformity while maintaining a unique aesthetic. Creative solutions were implemented to address ventilation constraints in the swimming pool area without compromising the unified appearance.
The project posed challenges, such as incorporating complex construction details early on to sensitively blend the proposals with the existing 1960s bungalow and traditional barn. HHA’s meticulous approach ensured that new and old elements seamlessly coexisted. The overwhelmingly positive feedback from the client led to HHA being appointed for several subsequent projects. The completed integration of the swimming pool, garden room, gym, and changing facilities enhanced the property’s market allure, appealing to a broad spectrum of potential buyers. Chinglea underscores HHA’s commitment to innovative design solutions that enhance living spaces while honouring architectural heritage. This project exemplifies our ability to translate client aspirations into reality, resulting in functional and aesthetically pleasing residential environments.
