All Saints Church

All Saints Parish Church, West Bromwich
The project at All Saints Church, West Bromwich, known locally as “The Old Church,” aimed to enhance its historical exterior while addressing practical challenges. Dating back to 1100AD, the site required improvements to its paving, rainwater drainage system, and the addition of an exterior baptizing area. Central to the project was the installation of a detailed stone font designed to serve as both a baptismal font and a water feature. This feature was complemented by specially crafted stainless-steel bowls to control water flow, ensuring stability in various weather conditions. The exterior paving around the water feature was carefully selected for accessibility, integrating seamlessly with the church's existing architecture.
Addressing maintenance issues, the project involved significant improvements to the silted-up rainwater drainage system. This enhancement not only resolved existing problems but also contributed to the overall aesthetic and functionality of the church grounds. The Parish Council and Church Committee expressed great satisfaction with the project's outcome, emphasizing its positive impact on the church and parishioners. The revitalized exterior space now offers a welcoming and functional environment for both regular worship and special events like baptisms, particularly enhancing the church’s appeal during summer months. By preserving historical elements and enhancing practical features, the project at All Saints Church successfully revitalized its exterior landscape. The integration of modern solutions with historical context has not only improved the usability of the church grounds but also contributed to its broader cultural and community significance.
