The sensitive refurbishment of the ground and
basement floors of 1 Essex Court, a grade 1
listed building located at the heart of Middle
Temple, provides space for the Clerks,
Administration staff and conferencing facilities
for One Essex Court, a leading set of commercial
barristers’ chambers.
The building has undergone many changes to its
layout over time and Horsley Huber Architects
worked closely with the Conservation Officer and
English Heritage on the design of the scheme,
which comprises the careful removal of several
partitions to create a large open plan reception
and waiting room and a full refurbishment and
reordering of the administration and clerks’
rooms as well as a full refurbishment of the
conference rooms and all ancillary spaces.
