This prestigious conservation project is notable for the East and North Ranges having been designed by Sir John Soane in the late 18th century, with the grounds having been designed by Capability Brown. Chillington has been the home of the Giffard family since 1178, following the Norman Conquest. There is an ongoing programme of roof and masonry repairs in place, in order to maintain the present buildings. The building is listed Grade 1 and the recent roof repairs were assisted by a grant from English Heritage.
